Casa Rosa

GUEST BOOK for 2008 - 2014

We are now into our Ninth season and we are very pleased to say that we have had some truly lovely guests staying at Casa Rosa, many of them returning again and again, here are just a few of their recent comments.

For later ones click here:

A beautiful place and fantastic hosts We had a really lovely 3 nights at Casa Rosa. The place is beautiful and the hosts are fantastic; going above and beyond what we had expected. During the booking process Jo responded to all of our questions quickly and thoughtfully. Once we had booked, the procedure for accessing the house was clearly explained by email and in a pack sent by post. In this pack was lots of helpful information about the house, the village, and Jo's directions (with photos to help us at potentially tricky junctions!) were really helpful. We were also able to park, as described, in the village car park 20 metres from the house. On arrival the fridge and cupboards were full with essentials that guests replenish if and when they are used; this saved us from empty stomachs and a lot of potential stress! The house was perfect with every need catered for. In particular, the roof terrace and 3 different places to sit in the private garden were fantastic. Also, it was nice to have a DVD player for those nights when we didn't walk to the centre of the village for drinks and food (even though it was only 5 mins away!). Finally, the house was filled with guide books and suggestions of things to do, which meant we had a great time exploring nearby ruins, towns and mountains! Thank you, Jo, for a fantastic holiday. We'd love to come again! P & L, UK September 2014

We returned from Italy last night having had a lovely holiday. We really enjoyed staying in your cottage, so well appointed we couldn't have wished for more. The villagers were so friendly and we made a few trips to Ginos Bar and to the little supermarket. The surrounding countryside was magnificent and we found the villages so interesting. We shall have very fond memories of Abruzzo. It has been a joy getting to know you and your cottage and, hopefully, we shall return sometime to do some more exploring. By the way your directions were fantastic. We really appreciated all the time and trouble you had taken to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Best wishes to you all for the future. D, J & M France, September 2014

We had a lovely, all be it short visit to Casa Rosa. The village is beautiful and friendly. Jo's library includes wonderful books about Abruzzo. All the comforts of home are here in this beautiful Italian rustic setting. We hope to be back!! R. T. USA July 2014

What a terrific house- everything here that we needed. Despite a mass of plans . . . we read our books, drank lovely wine and cooked with lovely local fresh ingredients. We are so sure we missed a lot, though managed a few spectacular trips. Sadly, the roof terrace baited us back! Dave, Jo and Fay, the work you have done here is terrific and gardens are coming along beautifully. D. & T. UK June 2014

Casa Rosa, has been a comfortable and relaxing place to stay - and our first taste of Italy. We have both felt really at home and have found plenty of walks. Thank you for allowing us to share your beautiful home. J. S. UK August 2014-

We've had a great stay at Casa Rosa, the house suited us perfectly and it felt like a home from home. The roof terrace is super - wine and stars to round off the day - just perfect. Thank you so much Jo & Dave for the loan of your lovely home and for all your help and information. J. P. UK May 2014

Abruzzo is a magical place, the mountains awe-inspiring. Thank you so much for the loan of Casa Rosa and giving us the opportunity to discover this lovely part of the world. E. J. UK, April 2014.

We had a wonderful Christmas. Casa Rosa is so cozy and full of charm that we felt at home. We enjoyed every moment of our staying and definitely fall in love with Bugnara. Thank you again. K. Z., Malta, December 2013

We had a wonderful holiday in Abruzzo, made even better because of having the cottage as our home base. The cottage was very much home from home. Beautifully equipped with everything required and very comfortable. Perfect location. Set down a quiet pedestrianised path with no traffic or traffic noise but just 2 minutes walk from the village, with a few shops and bars. Jo and Dave were extremely helpful from the moment we made our enquiry and their directions and attention to detail were faultless, nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly recommend Casa Rosa and we will be back! M. S. UK, October 2013

This rental has it all! From the relaxing garden to the amazing roof terrace! My daughter loved the poang chairs and the cute little balconies. If you want to go horse riding, down to a lake or walking in the mountains then this is the place to go! I would recommend this holiday house to all of my family and I will go back next summer. A. T. UK, August 2013

We stayed at Casa Rosa in June and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house was very comfortable and had everything that we could possibly have needed. The village was nice and friendly and the whole area was a great place to explore. My wife's favourite spot was the roof terrace and mine, Bar Gino! Thank you Jo & Dave for the use of Casa Rosa, its a super little villa and we look forward to returning again soon! J & C, UK, June 2013

We had a great time ..so much to see and do. Amazingly quiet and absolutely friendly and charming people. Casa Rosa is lovely and- an excellent base. Very comfortable and clean and relaxing. J & N, UK, June 2013

e stayed. Thank you for the hospitality Especially your service by e-mail. I & F, The Netherlands, Oct. 2012

Our 3rd visit to Casa Rosa and as before a very enjoyable, comfortable stay. Amazed at the amount of transformation Jo and Dave have made especially the garden. Sun shone every day and temperature got to 26 degrees (not bad for April!) so the thought of leaving for home was not a nice one. Eating out was as good as ever with perhaps the best meal at Ristorante da Paolino in Pescocostanzo. The new addition to Bugnara eating, i.e the Pizza Takeaway was excellent and good value at 1 euro per slice. As Abruzzo offers everything, so does Casa Rosa we will return!! T & K, UK April 2013

Just heading back to Rome to fly home. We've had a really wonderful holiday again. Thank you so much. It was so very special to return to Casa Rosa again. Loved the new garden, you've done really well with that. Joe and Isobel especially liked the DVD player in their bedroom. A first for them but much appreciated. No snow in Bugnara, but plenty in the mountains. In fact perfect skiing conditions. We skied for miles and miles from monte pratello this year. So peaceful and amazingly beautiful. We also did lots more sightseeing, picnics in the snow by lake scanno. We just love the area. We're all really sad to he heading home, but really keen to book for next year!? I don't suppose we can book for next year? Thanks again. We have had such a lovely holiday. Hunter family, U.K. Feb. 2013-

Casa Rosa has been our perfect 'home away from home'. Even the drive to Sulmona is full of picturesque beauty, and so we've enjoyed our frequent visits to this beautiful city with so much to see and enjoy there. Bugnara has been a delight as well. We think that the interior of the cathedral in Bugnara is magnificent, the sacred art in there is gorgeous. Abruzzo is a very special region of Italy. It has been a pleasure and privilege to experience the people (warm and Kind), the food (outstanding) and scenery (stunning). Jo and Dave thank you for making our stay so comfortable, we hope to return! J. & M., Illinois, U.S.A. November 2012

We loved your house in Bugnara. The area is also great. We walked a lot and had the perfect weather to do that. We will come back with our families (we are two woman and are friends since university). And we will of course tell our friends whet a great place w

Excellent weeks stay at Casa Rosa which was a comfortable & spacious villa providing excellent sun bathing opportunities. Quiet village however Ginos bar was very close with free WIFI & drinks at welcome prices e g Cappuccinos for 1 euro. No car but with a little planning, early starts & a little walking we had a great introduction to this area of Abruzzo. Scenery is breathtaking and whilst we visited various towns/cities including Pescara our favorites were the nearby Sulmona & Scanno. Sulmona is a vibrant attractive town & Scanno (up in the mountains) offered different opportunities. Before reaching the Scanno itself you see a lake named after the town-great fun on a pedalo! We accessed the mountains by ski chairlift up to 1600 metres & we enjoyed the views, the cooler temperatures & the walks. Jo the owner is very helpful & provided us with local information before our departure. If you have never visited this area try it you wont be disappointed! R & S, United Kingdom, August 2012

We spent a lovely couple of weeks in this lovely Village House in Bugnara. From the very beginning of our enquiries to the time of our arrival, Joanna the owner provided excellent communication and information, in fact I said to her on more than one occasion that she could give lessons to other owners on this site, in how to deal with the customers! The house itself is lovely with a variety of outdoor spaces and a lovely rooftop terrace. The house is very comfortable with everything you need for self catering. There was a good bus service from Bugnara to Sulmona and other local villages. Sulmona is a fantastic place to visit, which we did a number of times on the local bus service. We were lucky enough to be there for the Giostra, the local Jousting tournament, which was fantastic. If you want to stay in an authentic Italian hamlet, then Bugnara is the place. A car would be recommended if you wish to venture further afield. We did not have a car, but managed to do most things by public transport, including taking the bus from Rome Tiburtina to Sulmona. We hope to return to this area one day, and would absolutely stay in Casa Rosa again. Dot & Greg AUSTRALIA, July 2012

We had a fantastic time staying at Casa Rosa and loved Abruzzo. We definitely want to explore it some more in the future and work on our escape plan to Italy as we were very sad to leave. We have wanted to go to Abruzzo for some time and it certainly lived up to expectations. Casa Rosa was a great place to stay and everyone in Bugnara was very friendly. Thank you once again for letting us stay in your lovely house. J & D, United Kingdom, June 2012.

We've had a wonderful 5 days in Abruzzo and love the area, Bugnara and especially Casa Rosa, it was everything I'd hoped for and more. We are so happy we chose to visit this part of Italy! We saw and did so much and at the end of the day it was wonderful to come 'home' to this cosy little house. Bugnara and Sulmona were our favourite towns. Thank you for all your help. B & F, U.S.A. May 2012

Thank you so much for all your support and your emails regarding Casa Rosa. We enjoyed our time in Bugnara very much. It is a beautiful place and Casa Rosa was a good base to explore the area. Your instructions on how to find the place were excellent. We also found the visitors book and suggestions regarding things to do and places to go very helpful. You are doing a brilliant job. We will most certainly recommend Casa Rosa to friends of ours. M & I Australia April 2012

Well thanks again. We had a fantastic time, and we're really keen to return, to see Abruzzo in the spring/summer, and maybe to ski more another season. Thanks for all your helpful information and making Casa Rosa such a wonderful place to stay. Hunter Family, February 2012, U.K.

Thank you for everything the house was perfect for going snowboarding everyday in Monte Pratello! All in all great place to stay and very quiet in winter. TY again and hope to be staying at Casa Rosa again. C & C. January 2012, Spain.

Hi Jo and Dave, now back from a great week at your lovely holiday home, thanks for all your help with directions etc. we had a fantastic time, weather was great in the day time and the real fire was fun! The house was very comfortable and really did have every thing we needed in fact we felt very much at home. Hope to return one day (soon if I have my way!) Thanks again Doug & Wendy, Bedford, England, November 2011.

Just a note to say thank you from Jenny and myself. We have just returned to Trieste following two wonderful weeks in Casa Rosa. The house was perfect and a great base from which to see some of the lovely villages and surrounding country-side of Abruzzo. Thank you for all of the information and recommendations; in particular, Toni's restaurant where we had some superb meals, some wonderful wine and where we couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome. Steve & Jenny, Italy, August 2011.

Hi Joanna, just to let you know that we are back in London. Thank you for a lovely week in Casa Rosa. The house is everything that you promise on the website. I loved the sunny roof terrace and Trevor loved the cool interior! Trevor & Theresa, London, August 2011.

We had a wonderful time in Casa Rosa and absolutely loved Abruzzo. We did many hikes in the beautiful countryside and particularly enjoyed all the wild flower meadows. The countryside is so wild, untouched and peaceful. Casa Rosa was perfect for us and for my parents. My father went up to the little village shop every morning to fetch breakfast. There is so much more to say. Thank you again for the perfect organisation of this holiday house rental. Karla & Andrew, England July 2011.

We loved the area and were out before 9.00-9.30 so we could make the most of the days. The villages were particularly interesting and the changes in scenery were wonderful. I took over 400 pictures and Dave more so we will have some good memories. We loved Tony's bar and went there a few times it had such a friendly atmosphere and it was great to walk back. The house was very comfortable with everything we could want. The bed was very comfortable. Thank you once again for such thorough contact and information. Hope to make a return visit. Kay & Dave, England, June 2011.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Rosa. The house is very well set up with all that you could need and the outdoor eating areas and roof terrace were fantastic for dining, reading and relaxing. The locals were very friendly and helpful and we negotiated public transport without any problems, taking trips to other nearby towns and travelling to and from Rome for our flights. The DVD player was great for lazy evenings. We ate in using lovely local produce some of the time but found that the nearby restaurants were great value. A particular favourite was La Fiaccola in Anversa. This is a wonderful, unsullied and beautiful part of Italy and Casa Rosa is a great base from which to explore it. Lynda & Michael, Scotland, May 2011.

Can't believe that our week here in Abruzzo is already about to end. We have enjoyed the area, the weather except for today has been beautiful, and the house has been very comfortable. I do want to thank you for the very good directions you sent. It was a piece of cake getting to Bugnara and finding the house from Napoli. If we are ever traveling through this part of the world again, we will be sure to stay at Casa Rosa. Michael & Christine, Thailand, April 2011.

Dear Jo and David just a quick note to say that we had a lovely time in Casa Rosa and Bugnara. We had some super skiing at Pratello and it was lovely to come home at night to a warm house. Also having the open fire was fun, nice touch. Your advice and attention to detail is second to none and it made our stay easy. We will certainly recommend you to our friends and hope to come back ourselves one day. Thanks again. Simon and Heather, February 2011.

We loved Casa Rosa!!! We had a wonderful holiday and our stay at Casa Rosa made it memorable. The house was very spacious with all one could need for a great stay. We especially loved the upper terrace and we sat outside all mornings and early evenings. My wife enjoyed your DVD collection most evenings and the bedroom was sooooo comfortable, we slept so soundly. Bugnara is the perfect location for a base to explore Abruzzo. We enjoyed the town itself and the people were extremely friendly. Being so close to Sulmona was ideal as well. You were right..........6 days was not enough to fully appreciate the region and we will return within the next few years (we would definitely return to Casa Rosa). Michael & Terrie, Boston, U.S.A., Oct. 2010.

We had a great time and all the tributes we read were fully justified. The house and village were great and the whole area was truly stunning. I can't think of anything that would have made our stay easier or more enjoyable, the leaflets and guide books were excellent. Steve & Jan, Dorset. August 2010

Dear Dave and Jo we had a wonderful week in Casa Rosa, and the girls screamed with joy when they saw the roof terrace! Amtoft family, Denmark, July 2010

Casa Rosa is all that its charming owners claim and more. A village house recently restored but retaining its Abruzzo village character and tastefully modernised within, its provides all that is needed for the comfort of four people for even a protracted stay. To escape from the heat of an Abruzzo summer day and enter its cool rooms comes always as a very pleasant relief, and to breakfast on the roof terrace in the early morning sun is a delightful experience. Our stay, alas was all too short! And a word about our hosts to whom we are much indebted, Joanna and David are friendly, charming and most helpful. Rodney & Valerie, Yorkshire, June 2010

We thoroughly enjoyed your house, thank you for providing everything we needed for a very comfortable and enjoyable holiday. Pat & Keith, Dorset, June 2010

Joanna we are in Bugnara now. LOVE the house. My husband has said your pictures are true to your word - it looks exactly like the photos. Roberta & Reef, U.S.A. May 2010

Wanted to say a huge thank you for the rental of your lovely holiday home! Ourselves and the kids had a really lovely holiday (I could easily have spent a 3rd week there!). We have completely and utterly fallen in love with Abruzzo. The Ellse Family, Ireland. February 2010

Excellent value and location. A great family holiday home from home. Wonderful location with easy access to the motorway and close to all amenities. The home is very comfortable and relaxing with a bottle of wine and pasta to get you started on your first night! Kids loved their room and the little toys they could play with. Lots and lots to do in the area and we would highly recommend Casa Rosa to our friends and family. Thank you Joanna, Dave and Fay! Trish & Jonathan, Feb 2010

We came back again! Thank you Jo & Dave who made the holiday so enjoyable again, see you next year! The Thomas Family, Gower, South Wales. October 2009

We had a great 2 weeks in Casa Rosa, we loved the house and the village and the area. The Monks Family, Leicestershire, August 2009.

We have just spent three memorable weeks at Casa Rosa. We can certainly recommend this house and its location in Bugnara. It is a fascinating village, where locals and neighbours are particularly friendly. Shops are good and supermarkets in Sulmona excellent, with easy parking everywhere. This was a very different sort of holiday for us, but it went smoothly due to the owners, who made the whole venture so easy to arrange. The Angelo di Commune Bar/ restaurant next to the Police station is exceptionally good for arrosticini and the staff became good friends. In fact Tonino the owner asked us to come again. There was always something going on within Bugnara so one could never say it was quiet or dull (in July and August anyway). We travelled extensively during the three weeks in all directions. I had not visited Rome or the Adriatic for nearly forty years so that was definitely on the agenda. Finally the location can be recommended due to the outstanding scenery all around. I would certainly like to visit again, at least to see snow on the Maiella. Rowanne and Martin Lewis, Llandybie, Carmarthenshire. July -August 2009

Having spent a fortnight in Casa Rosa in June/July 2009 - we can highly recommend it. The house itself is extremely comfortable and well equipped. Bugnara is a pretty little village with small shops, bars and an excellent restaurant. It is ideally situated for visiting the Abruzzes - the beautiful nearby town of Sulmona full of atmosphere and life, the innumerable picturesque medieval villages and the National Parks. Cathy & Maxime, Paris, July 2009.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday staying at Casa Rosa in Bugnara. A lovely house, well modernised and kitted out, right in the centre of the village with a fantastic roof terrace and views. Surrounded by mountains and all facilities to hand, including post office, bars and alimentari. Mr & Mrs Robinson, Oxfordshire. June 2009

We've all had a fantastic time. Great house, great area, we especially liked Sulmona and the National Parks. Thanks for everything. The Mount Family, Herefordshire. Christmas 2008
