‘Villa in the village’
About Casa Rosa -
Casa Rosa is a beautiful detached, over 200 year old house, nestled in the middle of Bugnara, a small medieval village in the heart of Abruzzo, Italy, in fact part of its garden walls are the original village walls. Casa Rosa is close to Sulmona and the Abruzzo National Park and is the perfect location for walking, trekking holidays and for winter skiing, as Campo di Giove, Pratello and Roccaraso are all about 30 minutes drive away. There are numerous walks from the village, for sightseeing or just for a relaxing break away. The beaches of the Adriatic are under an hour away and the lakes at Scanno are only 20 minutes away, there is even a Water Park at Corfinio which is only 15 minutes down the road. There is also a fishing pool in the village.
Casa Rosa now has Free WiFi for you to use or if you prefer WiFi is also available at Bar Gino's in the village, which is only a short walk away. So for the price of a coffee, beer or Prosecco you can have a drink and surf the net, wine and WiFi all within a short walk, great!

The detached villa, (which is all yours, not an apartment) has been renovated to a high standard and has a fully fitted kitchen, shower room, two separate bedrooms (each with a balcony), a large open plan kitchen/dining room/lounge complete with Italian channel TV and DVD player, Ipod docking system and CD/radio. It also has full mains gas central heating and an open fireplace.
Casa Rosa is a well equipped, centrally heated, light and airy detached cottage. You enter through our beautiful chestnut doors into the ground floor which includes a fully fitted kitchen with electric oven/grill, mains gas hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, electric kettle, cafetiere, cool bag, iron and ironing board, dining table with four chairs.
In the lounge area you will find the open fireplace with a 3 seater settee, two armchairs, flat screen television (with Italian channels) and a DVD player complete with a large selection of DVDs. An Ipod docking system. A bookcase with guide books, local books, novels, maps, leaflets and guest book. There is also a CD player with radio.
Stairs lead from the ground floor up to the first floor landing, which has a hanging storage area to one side. On the landing there are three doors off, one leads to the shower room, one to the main bedroom and the other to the twin bedroom, so no walking through one room to get to the next.

The main bedroom has a kingsize bed with luxurious pocket sprung mattress and verdigris metal bedframe, chest of drawers, flat screen TV/DVD player, hairdryer, radiator, bookcase, free standing fan and wooden double glazed french windows with internal shutters, leading to its own balcony which is large enough for a chair and your favourite book.
The second bedroom has twin beds with pocket sprung mattresses and metal bedframes, chest of drawers, TV and DVD player, hair dryer, radiator, bookcase, fan and again french windows with internal shutters leading onto its own balcony, which can also accommodate a chair for watching the world go by or view of the mountains.
A staircase from the landing leads to the top floor, which has a sofa for relaxing and a bookcase with books and a glazed door which leads onto the large roof terrace which has fantastic panoramic views over the surrounding roof tops to the Maiella mountains. There is also a novelty fridge to keep your drinks cool.
This roof terrace is a great sun trap and a perfect spot to relax on, it is equipped with a table, chairs, umbrella and 3 sun loungers and 2 sun beds.
Further details outdoors:The large roof terrace measures 5.5m x 3m and commands excellent views, the perfect spot for eating al fresco, or just relaxing and soaking up the sun or complete 'suntrap', as several guest have described it. A table, chairs and sun loungers are provided.
Being totally detached, Casa Rosa has its own private garden. The kitchen door leads to the secluded shady courtyard complete with table and chairs and also herbs for you to use to enhance your cooking. From here, 4 steps take you to the cottage garden, which is south facing and one part is gravelled with Maiella stone, complete with a table, six chairs a large umbrella and BBQ, and the other part is up four steps and has 2 comfy chairs, table and umbrellas, which are surrounded by fig trees and newly planted nut, olive and fig trees and has a fantastic view down the valley to the Gran Sasso in the distance, so you have a choice of sun or shade -
Free parking is available close by and it is only a twenty metre level walk from the house.
One approach to the chestnut doors of Casa Rosa is from the parking area, but there are other approaches via sloping 'donkey step' paths leading down from the centre of the village as the immediate walkways to the front and side of the house are pedestrianised.
